What to do when your UV resin is still sticky

To properly cure sticky UV resin, follow these steps and tips. Stickiness usually happens due to under-curing, incorrect resin mix, or contamination.
✅ Fixing Sticky UV Resin
If your resin is sticky or soft after curing, here’s what you can do to fix it:
- Expose to more UV light
- Place it under a UV lamp (36W or higher) for 2–10 more minutes.
Repeat 2-3 times before accepting its a loss. - Or place in direct sunlight for 15–60 minutes.
- Make sure the light hits all surfaces evenly.
- Cure both on the front, back and sides of your piece.
- Place it under a UV lamp (36W or higher) for 2–10 more minutes.
- Place your piece in water and cure
- Place your piece in a glass of water (room temperature).
- Hold your UV light or torch through the glass and on to your piece for 3 minutes.
- Take your piece out of the water and let air dry (in case it is not cured)
- Wipe the surface with isopropyl alcohol (IPA)
- Sometimes the stickiness is just the oxygen-inhibited layer.
- After trying the above, use a lint-free cloth and 91%+ IPA to gently wipe it.
- Apply another thin layer of resin and cure again

- Remove and redo (last resort)
- If it stays gooey, scrape off the bad resin and re-pour with a new, well-mixed batch.
