Lots of resin is sold as non-toxic and safe to use, however, we always recommend using a mask for extra protection*.
This is especially the case if you don’t have sufficient ventilation (enough fresh air flowing in to your craft space with fumes being able to leave) either with windows or doors or by using a purifier.
Maks for working with resin
A dust mask or masks like you used during Covid will not give you the right protection while working with resin.
They will not filter out the fumes that are associated with UV and Epoxy resins. You will need to choose a mask that is a respirator with organic vapor cartridges (look for NIOSH-approved).
This half face respirator mask (available to buy from Amazon here) with replaceable filters is a great choice.
The double filtration system can effectively obstruct of organic vapor, gas, smoke, pollen, dust and other particles in the air.
This means you’ll be protected against both resin chemicals and dust.
Important to note
Your resin should come with its own safety data sheet. Always check with your sheet or contact the manufacturer to check what their exact personal protective equipment / mask recommendations are.
