What can I add to Eco Resin

Eco Resin might be solid in colour unlike Epoxy Resin but it absolutely does not mean you can create some colourful and creative projects with texture and patterns. We take a look at some of the ways you can create unique pieces with your Eco Resin.

Eco Pigment

Eco pigment is perfect as its specially formulated to work with Eco Resins. Being a natural product as well it ensures you can market your pieces as the most eco friendly pieces.

We LOVE the Eco Pigments from Create and Bloom Crafts. Their huge range of colours mean you will be guaranteed to find a colour to match your ideas. You can also adjust the shade depending on the amount of pigment used. We also love how Bloom Eco pigments have excellent UV stability. This means they will not fade or alter under UV light – even if they have not been sealed with a protectant.

Glitter

So, adding glitter won’t give you that instant sparkle when you add it to Eco Resin. You’ll find that it will sink and disappear quite quickly, however, what you will get is a great speckled look. You can also bring out some of the shine by giving your piece a light sand with a high grit sandpaper and adding a wax or polish.

Acrylic Paint

Acrylic paint can be a really cheap way to add colour to your Eco Resin. One thing to keep in mind is that you don’t want to add more than 10% or the water content can effect your curing time and the overall strength of your final piece. We found that even the brightest of neon acrylic paints will still come out a chalky colour. Still – they can look amazing.

@resinforbeginners Can you use acrylic paint with Eco Pour H2O Eco Resin? 🤷‍♀️ Well, kind of! It works and looks lovely but not as bright as when you use the eco pigments from @Just4youonlineUK. #resin #ecopour #ecopourjust4you #ecoresin #ecocrafts #ecofriendly #ecofriendlyproducts #ecofriendlyliving #resinpour #resinart #resincrafts ♬ Eyes Like Blue Skies (Instrumental) – SoulChef

Terrazzo

Eco Resin Star Dish

Adding Terrazzo to your Eco Resin project can be an amazing way of adding some contemporary class and a unique look to your piece.

Multiple Colours

This is where you can let your creative flair take over. Adding one colour to your mould in spots, lines, shapes or patterns can be one of the best ways of creating some really unique items. As Eco Resin cures so quickly, you can easily add one colour to your mould, let it cure then add a second, third or endless more colours to your piece. Try adding pours, splashes, lines or dots to create some truly interesting shapes and see which colours work best.

Sand and shells

Adding sand and shells can add a unique texture to your surface. Just watch out for bubbles! You can tap your moulds after pouring to release those air pockets especially with shells!

Epoxy & UV Resin

Can I add Epoxy and UV resin to Eco Resin?
YES!
Absolutely! It’s a great way to add colour and texture. Just make sure that you allow each component to fully cure before adding the next. You may also want to sand your epoxy resin slightly to allow your two parts to bond as strongly as possible together.

In summary – Eco Resin can be as creative as you make it. Always check the instructions for your chosen brand and look for any limitations on the cure times and amount of pigments you can add per amount of powder.
