UV Resin Kit List

What do I need to get crafting with UV Resin?

For working with UV resin, you’ll need a few key supplies. It’s a bit different from regular epoxy resin since UV resin cures quickly when exposed to UV light, which makes it perfect for smaller, quicker projects.

UV Resin

UV resin is a thick, clear resin that hardens when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. It’s available in both transparent and opaque varieties. You can find it comes in different viscosities (thicknesses) too.

UV Resin Silicone Molds

Molds made of silicone are flexible and non-stick, which makes them ideal for UV resin projects. You’ll need to ensure your moulds are clear. The UV light needs to be able to reach right through your mould and resin to cure it.

UV Resin is best suited to smaller and not too deep moulds.

UV Resin Pigments & Dyes

To add color to your UV resin, you can use pigments, dyes, or even mica powder. Some brands offer pre-mixed coloured resin. Check out JDiction coloured UV Resin.

Lightwish also have an amazing range of glow in the dark and glitter UV resin available to buy on Amazon.

Tip: Be cautious with the amount of pigment, as too much can affect the curing process.

    UV Resin Mixing Tools

Small stirring sticks, plastic cups, or any other tools you might use for mixing in the colorants. Silicone containers and sticks are the best as they can be reused but plastic and wooden are often low cost and ok to use too.

    Tweezers & Tools for Embellishments

If you’re adding small items (like glitter, charms, or dried flowers) in your UV resin, tweezers or small tools are helpful for placement.

Tip: Be sure that any items you embed are small enough to fit comfortably in your mold.

    Protective Gear

It is essential that you protect yourself when working with any resin. Gloves and a respirator mask will provide you with good protection. UV resin can be sticky, and it’s always a good idea to protect your skin from direct contact.

Always use a well-ventilated area for curing your projects and follow your chosen resin brand’s safety instructions.

    Cleaning Supplies

Isopropyl alcohol, paper towels, or wipes for cleaning your tools and surfaces after you’re done.

Tip: Keep your workspace clean to avoid contaminating your resin and ensure it cures properly.

      Heat Gun or Lighter

lightly passing heat over your piece will help to remove any air bubbles from the resin before curing.
