How to remove resin tape

Have you used resin tape for bezels or edging? Is the tape stuck to your resin, mould or piece? Even just a slight amount of left over tape can ruin your project.

We take a look at how to remove sticky resin tape.

First off – do not panic! Your piece can and will be saved!

There’s a really simple solution and it only takes a few minutes.

Sticky Stuff Remover!

De.Solv.it® Sticky Stuff® Remover Liquid is a store cupboard staple in our house.

The product description – “Sticky Stuff remover zaps even difficult deposits such as tape/sticker residue, tar, grease, chewing gum, make-up, adhesives etc from glass, wood, metal, worktops, fabrics, tiles and much more“.

How to use Sticky Stuff Remover

  1. Remove as much of the tape as possible without scratching your resin, mould or bezel.
  2. Add a few drops of Sticky Stuff Remover to the area with tape still on.
  3. Leave for a few minutes.
  4. Using kitchen roll or cloth, gently rub and push the tape away from the surface.
  5. Rinse with cold water and pat dry.

TIPS: ONLY DO THIS WITH RESIN THAT IS FULLY CURED.
If your resin is not yet fully cured, the scraping may leave marks and the liquid can turn your resin cloudy.

TIPS: ALWAYS TEST ON A SMALL AREA FIRST
Although this is a gentle product, always test the liquid on a small area first or a test project.

Sticky stuff remover is available in the UK. The USA equivalent is Goo Gone.
