Project difficulty: Easy

Project time: 40 minutes

What you’ll need

  • 50g Eco Resin – Were using Eco Pour H2O from Apex – use code RESINFORBEGINNERS to get 15% off
  • Kitchen scales – As eco pour is non toxic we just use our regular kitchen scales from Amazon and find they’re really accurate.
  • 15g Water – We use a measuring jug so we know how much were using.
  • Stirring stick / spoon – You’ll see in our video that we’re recycling an old baby spoon.
  • Pigment – Shop at Apex and get 15% off Create and Bloom Eco Pigments with code RESINFORBEGINNERS.
  • Mirror mold – We use the amazing moulds from Makeitamazing. They come in a range of styles and with the right size mirrors.
  • Mixing cups – We used clean and dry yogurt pots.
  • Gloves – Although all non-toxic, gloves will save your hands from getting stained with the pigment

How it’s done

  1. Add 50g of Eco Resin to your cup.
TIP: Go slowly as it can be messy.
  2. Next slowly begin adding your water and mix as you go. You want to aim for a pancake mix consistency that runs freely from your spoon and is smooth but is thick.
TIP: You have around 10 minutes before your mixture really begins to set so you need to work fast.
  3. Split your mixture in to two cups.
  4. You can choose to colour both or leave one side natural like we have.
  5. If you’d like to achieve a marble effect, add 1 drops of pigment and mix slowly – 1-2 turns will be enough. If you want a solid pattern, use 3 drops and mix well.
  6. Slowly pour in to your mould.
  7. Let your piece cure for at least 30 minutes. DON’t be tempted to touch it before the time is up.
  8. Slowly un-mould your tray and sand any sharp edges very lightly if needed (although it often isn’t).
  9. Add some superglue or epoxy resin to the back of your mirror and gently place it in your mould. Leave to dry according to instructions.
